ATA Local 48 Institute Day 2024
Friday November 1, 2024 2:15pm - 3:15pm MDT

Participants will need a printed copy of the handout as well as 6 regular dice and a deck of cards.
OPTIONAL - A lot of schools have our materials so they may wish to have on hand
a dice tray with 36 dice, 2 filled math shakers, three 1-30 dice.
It will be best if they are viewing the workshop with a colleague so they can play along as the games are presented.

Participants in this virtual session will learn a variety of math games they can immediately use in their classrooms that support the Junior High math curriculum for Alberta. Concept focuses include Operations with fractions, decimals and ratios; Mental Math; Algebra; Coordinate Geometry including defining X, defining Y, and slope; Chance and Probability. Ways to easily differentiate the games to challenge (without frustrating) their students regardless of whether they are working at, above or below grade level will be modeled throughout the session. Regular cards and dice are all that are needed to get started (have some handy for the workshop). A comprehensive handout with gameboards, rules and follow-up suggestions will be available for download
