INTRODUCTION TO BUILDING A RESTORATIVE CULTURE
Did you know that schools that implement restorative practices see improved
social/emotional development in students, improved student attendance and a decrease
in fights, bullying and suspensions? With relationships at the heart of a restorative
culture, embedding these practices across a school improves students’ overall mental
wellbeing, allowing them to learn. They also make a teacher’s job easier by reducing the
number of disruptions in the classroom and the school. This session will provide an
overview of restorative practices in schools and participants will leave with strategies
they can incorporate into their work with students.
